Head Coach - Matt Smith

A native of Chesapeake, Virginia, Coach Matt is a 2001 graduate of Great Bridge High School and a 2005 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute (VMI). During his collegiate baseball career, he made a significant impact, earning First Team All-Big South honors in 2004 and setting multiple school records. He left VMI with 218 career hits, 38 stolen bases, and a school-record 753 at-bats. Following his standout college career, he went on to play professionally for five years within the Texas Rangers and New York Mets organizations.

Coach Matt's work ethic was his calling card in the game of Baseball. Former Rangers Manager Ron Washington once boasted to scouts to find him "8 more players like Matt Smith".

Assistant Coach - Christina Stern

Coach Christina brings passion, discipline, and a deep love for the game to the 11U Five Star Lady Mafia - Smith team. With 3 years of travel ball coaching experience and a background in competitive softball, she is committed to developing young athletes both on and off the field.

Known for her passionate coaching style and emphasis on fundamentals, Coach Christina fosters a team-first mentality, encouraging players to hustle, support one another, and grow through every challenge.

Off the field, Coach Christina is a proud parent of two, former athlete and working momma who believes in creating a positive, respectful environment where athletes can thrive. With a focus on character, accountability, and effort, she is helping shape the next generation of strong, confident young women.
